Dapper Fellas is at 13059 Victory Blvd in Valley Glen. By road that is about 2 miles from Van Nuys Boulevard, about 4 miles from the NoHo Arts District, about 5 miles from Studio City and about 6 miles from the Sherman Oaks Galleria. Most of those drives take 10 to 15 minutes outside of rush hour.

People searching for "barbershop near North Hollywood" or "Van Nuys barber" usually mean "somewhere good, not too far." The east San Fernando Valley is dense with barbershops, and the honest answer to "nearest" is often a place four minutes from your door. So this is not an argument that you should skip your neighborhood shop. It is a map of what is within reach, and a way to decide when a short drive buys you something.

The distances

How far Victory Blvd really is, by neighborhood

These are driving distances from our door, measured by road routing without traffic. Add time for rush hour, especially if your route crosses Ventura Boulevard.

Worth the drive?

When a short drive beats the nearest chair

There is a barbershop within a few minutes of almost everyone in the east Valley. A drive is worth it when you want something the closest shop does not do. Here is what to check, wherever you go:

Classic side part haircut finished with a clean taper
A side part with a clean taper, the kind of cut that rewards a barber who takes his time.

What you find here

The shop on Victory Blvd

Dapper Fellas opened in 2018 and is rooted in Armenian barbering tradition: three generations of craft, settled into one room on Victory Blvd. The team speaks English, Russian and Armenian. The room is dark wood and brass, in a 1920s style, and every service includes a head wash, a hot towel and a pour of whiskey or cognac. Each barber on the team brings more than ten years at the chair. The background of that tradition is in the Armenian barbershop tradition in the Valley.

The menu is simple and published. The Clean Fade and Clipper Buzz Cut are 25 minutes for $30. The Dapper Signature Haircut is 45 minutes for $50. Beard work starts at $30. The Gentleman Shave is 60 minutes for $50, and the All-in-One Package is 70 minutes for $100.

Before you drive

Three questions to ask any shop

Whether you end up with us or with a shop around the corner, these three questions separate a place you will return to from one you will not.

  1. Can I see the price and the time before I book? If the answer is "call us," the price probably moves depending on who asks.
  2. Who is cutting, and what do they do best? A shop that cannot name its barbers' strengths is selling an address, not a skill.
  3. What is included? A wash, a hot towel and a finish are either part of the cut or an add-on. Ask before you sit down, not when the bill arrives.

The Friday evening is a good example of what the extra drive can buy. The Full Groom, a cut, a razor, a charcoal mask and a pour, takes about 70 minutes, and booking it for a Friday means you leave around closing with nowhere to be. That is hard to do in a 20-minute shop.

Getting here

Make the trip simple

  1. Address: 13059 Victory Blvd, Valley Glen, CA 91606. Put it into your maps app and check live traffic before you leave.
  2. Book first or walk in: both are fine. If you are driving across the Valley, booking removes the risk of a Saturday wait. The trade-offs are in our walk-in versus appointment guide.
  3. Call if you are late: (818) 392-5771. We would rather rearrange than lose your slot.
  4. Plan for the full block: a 45-minute haircut means 45 minutes in the chair, plus a few at the start for the conversation.
