Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 14, 2026
Dapper Fellas Barbershop ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This page explains what information we collect when you book, visit, or use the AI Try-On feature, how we use it, and your rights over it. Plain English. No legal acrobatics.
What we collect
- Booking data. Name, phone, email, service requested, preferred barber, appointment time. Collected when you book through our scheduling partner Altegio.
- AI Try-On data. The selfie you upload, generated previews, selected style, an anonymous device identifier, and, only when you voluntarily save a result for the shop, your phone number. See the AI Disclosure for full handling details.
- Newsletter signups. Email address you submit to The Dispatch. Stored by our form processor (Formspark) for delivery only.
- Contact submissions. Anything you send via email or phone.
- Basic analytics. Page visits, referrer, screen size, country, Try-On actions, access channel, limits, and errors. Try-On analytics use opaque identifiers and do not include raw phone numbers or photos.
How we use it
- To confirm and remember your appointments.
- To process your AI Try-On preview, return it to your screen, prevent abuse, and retrieve a voluntarily saved result for your shop visit.
- To send you The Dispatch (quarterly), only if you opt in.
- To improve the site and the chair experience.
- To comply with the law if and when we're required to.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not build a profile of you.
Who else handles your data
To run the shop and the website we use trusted third-party processors. Each one only sees the data it needs:
- Altegio — booking and scheduling. Sees your name, phone, appointment details.
- GRSAI and fal.ai – AI Try-On image processing providers. The configured provider sees the selfie and style instructions needed to generate the preview. See the AI Disclosure.
- Twilio — phone calls and SMS confirmations. Sees your number and the message body.
- Google Workspace — email correspondence (dapperfellas@yahoo.com is also active for inbound).
- Cloudflare – site delivery and security. Sees IP and basic request metadata.
- PostHog – product analytics. Receives Try-On event names, channel, shop, and opaque identifiers, but not raw phone numbers or photos.
- Formspark — Dispatch newsletter signup form. Sees the email you submit.
Text messages (SMS)
We text you about your place in the walk-in line. Nothing else happens automatically – you have to ask for it first, and there is exactly one place to ask.
- How you opt in. One way only, and it's yours to start: on the tablet at the front desk, after you enter your number to join the walk-in line, you tick the box that reads "I agree to receive Dapper Fellas walk-in queue text alerts." The box starts unchecked. We never add a number that didn't tick it, and there is no other way to opt in – not by phone, not through a form on this site. See exactly what the tablet shows at How our text messages work.
- What we send. A join or appointment check-in confirmation, a heads-up when your chair is nearly free, the "your chair is ready" alert, or a no-show status update. That is the entire program. No marketing, no offers, no third-party or affiliate content, and nothing sent to a purchased list.
- How often. Up to four messages per opted-in visit. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
- How you stop. Reply STOP to any message and we stop immediately, no questions. Reply HELP for help, or call (818) 392-5771.
- Cost. Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
- Your consent stays here. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We do not sell, rent, or transfer your mobile phone number, your SMS opt-in data, or your messaging consent to anyone. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties, excluding our messaging provider (Twilio), who handles delivery on our behalf and nothing more.
Cookies and tracking
The site uses functional cookies for preferences and a signed Try-On device identifier, plus Google Analytics and PostHog product analytics. We do not use advertising cookies or send raw Try-On photos or phone numbers to analytics providers. The booking and maps interfaces are provided by their respective third parties.
Your rights
You can:

Children
The site is designed for adult booking. For guests under 12, a parent or guardian books on their behalf. We don't knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.
Retention
Booking history: kept for as long as you remain an active client plus three years. Original Try-On photos and unselected previews: deleted from our Mirror database within 24 hours. A result voluntarily saved with a phone number: kept for up to 180 days or deleted sooner on request. Privacy-safe Try-On analytics: kept for up to 36 months. Newsletter email: kept until you unsubscribe. Our access-controlled local database backups are rotated after 14 days, so a deletion may remain in a backup until that backup expires.
Changes to this policy
If we change anything material, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where required, notify you. The version that applies to your visit is the one published when you visited.
Governing law
This policy is governed by the laws of the State of California. Any dispute is resolved in the courts of Los Angeles County, unless mandatory consumer-protection law gives you a different right.
