How our text messages work

Last updated: August 7, 2026

One message, one purpose: telling a waiting guest that his chair is about to free up, so he can finish his coffee next door and walk back in. Nothing is sent to a number that did not ask for it, and nothing about our service depends on saying yes.

Where you opt in

There is a tablet at the front desk. A guest who walks in without an appointment joins the line on it: he enters his number, then his name. On that second screen there is a box reading "Text me when my chair is ready". The box starts empty. He ticks it himself, or he does not and simply waits to be called by voice, as people always have.

This is the screen, exactly as it appears on the tablet:

Front-desk tablet: name and email fields, an unticked box reading Text me when my chair is ready, and beneath it the notice Msg frequency varies. Msg and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out.
The consent box and its disclosure, on the tablet at 13059 Victory Blvd. The second box, for offers and news, is separate and also starts empty – agreeing to one never agrees to the other.

Directly beneath the box, before anyone can continue, the tablet shows: "Msg frequency varies. Msg and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out."

What we send

  • Your chair is nearly ready. Sent once, when the barber you are waiting for is roughly ten minutes from finishing – enough time to walk back from wherever you went.
  • Your chair is ready. Sent when the barber actually calls you up.

That is the whole programme for a walk-in: at most two messages for one visit. Guests who separately tick the offers box may also hear from us occasionally when a chair opens up; that is a different box and a different answer.

How to stop

Reply STOP to any message and it ends immediately. Reply HELP, call (818) 392-5771, or email dapperfellas@yahoo.com and a person will sort it out.

Frequency and cost

Frequency follows your visits – most guests see two to four messages a month. Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Your number stays here

Mobile numbers and messaging consent are never sold, rented, or shared with third parties or affiliates for their marketing. Full detail in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
